Capitol Reef National Park

Kelly and I needed somewhere cool to go over Labor day weekend. Thanks to the recommendation from my cousin/Kelly's friend Ben we found one of our new favorite places. Kelly really could not get enough of the red rock and beautiful scenery. I think what made capitol reef so cool is that we never really new it existed. And there it was only 4 hours away from our doorstep. A few highlights of the trip were:
1. The yard sale on the way down. We just had to check it out.
2. Just the drive. It was a baron drive and then all of the sudden it was cool red rock formation and valleys. We could not get enough.
3. Sulfur Creek hike. (it was another recommendation by Ben) I think it was the favorite of the trip. It was a 5 mile hike along a small creek at the bottom of a valley. It had neat pools, waterfalls, and canyons. We were the only two on the hike which made it quiet and peaceful. It was a perfect temperature and it rained some of the time which added to the ambiance.
4. Fruit Trees. Right next to our camp were apple and pear trees. The best apples I've ever tasted. The rain and the fruit made the air smell delicious.
5. Hickman Bridge. It was a perfect short hike to an awesome natural bridge.

It was nice to get away and experience some of what nature has to offer. Capitol Reef got us started and we now want to visit some more national parks. Zions, Arches, and Bryce Canyon are next on our list. If anyone is interested in joining..just let us know!!
